Decisions and Choices

D’Wayne Elliott

What is a Decision?  What is a Choice?  Have you ever thought about it?  Do you know that there is a difference?
Proverbs 16:9

Purpose:  To cause you to evaluate to importance of decisions.

Goal:
To help you evaluate where you are, what foundation you are standing on, and to show you that the word contains the answers you need.

I am going to accomplish this by addressing three questions
What’s in your heart, what is your purpose, and what does God want you to do?

1.      What is in your heart?
  1. Your heart determines your path.
       (Pro. 16:9 and Pro. 19:21)
  1. What is your heart filled with?
       (Pro.4:20-26)
  1. What kind of choices will you make?
       (Pro. 4:1-7)
  1. How can be sure you are making the best decisions?
      (Pro. 4:20-23)

2.      Your will is involved.
  1. God will not violate your will.
(Exodus 5:1, 7:16, 8:1, 8:8)
  1. What will you do?
(Duet 30:15)

3.      God directs your steps.
  1. Are you listening?
(Pro. 37:23)
  1. Who are you submitted to?
(John 10:4)
  1. Who are you listening to?
(Duet. 30:15-20)

4.      All your answers are found in the word.
  1. Proverbs 20:24
  2. Jeremiah 10:4
  3. Psalms 37:23
  4. Proverbs 16:9
  5. Proverbs 19:21

5.      Review:

  1. We talked about how your heart determines your path but God should direct your path.  (Pro. 16:9 and 19:21)
  2. We talked about how God does not violate your will.  (Exodus 5:1,7:16)
  3. We talked about how God directs your steps. (Pro. 37:23)
  4. The Word holds all the answers.  (Pro. 20:24  Jer. 10:4)

6.      Conclusion.

  1. You are in a time where you face greater challenges than generations before had to face.  Your exposure to immorality is unimaginable, being a Christian.  Ask yourself a few questions?  What’s in your heart?  Is it natural understanding, or is it the wisdom of god?

  1. Out of the book of Proverbs is the foundation of our discussion on decision making.  (kjv) Reads - A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.   The Amplified reads - A man's mind plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps and makes them sure.  These questions help emphasis some of the answers that we look for to help guide us to the success and happiness that we desire for our lives.
